All Things Music with Ah-Deli of Heru Heru!

Updated: Sep 29

Where are you located now and where are you originally from? I'm currently located in Music City USA, Nashville, Tennessee. I grew up in Nashville and lived in New York City for a few years as well.

Who has been your greatest influence? I don't want to sound cliche, but honestly I would say my greatest influence overall was 2Pac. To me, it wasn't his level of fame, but rather his character and authenticity that separated him from the rest. Whether wrong or right, he always wanted to stand for something greater, and I definitely identified with that. What is your latest and greatest? My latest influences would be artists like Nas and Talib Kweli for their ability to incorporate a more poetic delivery than many in the world of hip-hop. I appreciate their relentless consistency in this ever-changing world of music. Are you performing LIVE soon? I have had the great pleasure of collaborating with my hip-hop group, Heru Heru, (Foundation Mecca, Konscience Beatz) to present a monthly show in East Nashville featuring three or four additional up-and-coming local artists. We all perform with live DJs, aiming to grow an underground hip-hop fan base, as well as healing the genre of hip-hop (bringing it back to it's roots). We have had four installments of 'The Heal Hop Show' and we intend to keep them coming!

What are you most looking forward to in 2022? I am looking forward to making more music with a high-vibration, hoping to inspire other artists to do the same. What has become popular in our particular genre of music has mostly not been leading people in the right direction. That's why I have committed myself to become the change that I wish to see. I have started a hip-hop movement called World Hop to unite the world by way of hip-hop through combining the boom bap element of hip-hop with world instrumentation and language. Being multilingual, I have demonstrated that in my debut album (World Hop) where I rapped in Persian, Spanish, and even a couple bars in Korean. How did you deal with all the changes in the past two years that the music industry has gone through? Dealing with the changes of the last two years has not been the easiest, but I have chosen to surround myself with intelligent and adaptable people that make lemonade when life hands them lemons. We started a podcast when everything shut down last year called MC2MC, collaborating with Upstate Sound in South Nashville. We would interview other emcees and artists, giving them a platform to communicate their brands and stories in order to help make Nashville the next 'it' city for hip-hop as well, since Nashville hip-hop has always sat in the shadow of Country music, historically. Beyond my debut album, we have released three albums since December of 2019, reflecting our seriousness as artists, and our refusal to quit when challenges were presented.

What would you say to your younger self if you could? I would say.. why didn't you invest in Nashville real estate?! You could've been rich! But on a serious note, I would say believe in yourself even when others won't. They may mean well by talking you out of your dreams for a 'practical' future, but don't let them slow your roll. Your ability is God-given, and if you diligently work on your craft, you will master it. Keep going.

On a scale from ONE to TEN, how driven are you? 10

When you're not feeling motivated how do you get back on track? The best way is to get outside in nature and get centered. In this technological age we are living in, we often forget that happiness actually lies in the natural, not on our smartphones and tv screens. Back to basics and simplicity. Eating well, exercising, and prayer never leads you astray.

How much do you believe LUCK plays a role in success? I don't believe it does. I believe it starts with intention and course of action, and that's what attracts success, not that good luck charm in your pocket. How can we stay up to date with you?

I post fairly frequently on social media, mainly IG and Facebook. I plan to improve my website and keep everyone in the loop with new music, merch, and etc on there as well.
