KIM CAMERON IS A PIECE OF PEACE
Today we chatted with the musical sensation Singer/ Songwriter, Kim Cameron!! She talks to us about her upcoming release "Show Me You Feel", how she finds peace AND hitting BILLBOARD!?!
How does your music affect the world?
I hope it affects the world, but honestly, I don’t know. My goal is to tell love stories in the hopes that people can find a little bit of themselves in my songs. And, maybe use that bit to find a love that either they forgot, a love they didn’t realize they had, or a love that they hope to feel. To me, we can never have enough love, or be loved too much.
Who has been your biggest cheerleader as an artist?
One of my mentors, who used to work for Disney, has been a huge support from the first day I started this original project. He has always been there, encouraging me, even when it felt like I was not moving forward, he would keep pushing me to see the light at the end of the music tunnel. I am not sure I could have continued without him.
Tell us about your latest release!
"Show Me You Feel", makes its musical debut on December 19th! I am notorious for writing love songs and, this is no exception. It’s a story about two lovers who find themselves frustrated with how much the electronic leases control their lives. Instead of focusing on each other and their love, they hide between screens (phones, apps, etc). The message behind the song is ‘why not put it all away for a while, escape back to when the connection was simple, and between two adults, not phones. It’s not a fast BPM, but I think it feels faster than the BPM. Very much in the electro pop with a little bit of house mixed in.
What have been your greatest challenges as an artist?
What hasn’t been my greatest challenge? I find being an artist in the sea of this music world of artists very challenging. From trying to write the best song in the world, to performing like there is no tomorrow to making sure people believe you are real and sincere. Every day is a challenge to stay fresh, focused and move forward.
What have been your greatest achievements as an artist?
Finishing 12 albums, hitting Billboard, touring internationally in Europe, Caribbean and Asia, singing to our Veterans, and soon, releasing my first full length animated feature film! (oops, was that too many?!)
How do you find peace in an often chaotic world?
The ocean is my happy place. I have a paddle board that I love to escape on. If it’s too cold, I put on my favorite running shoes and find the sun splashing on my shoulders. It’s those sensations that make my heart and head come together in peace and reflection.
What does "making it" mean to you?
When I have written the best song in the world.
