LEARN THE LIE with JENI SCHAPIRE
THANK YOU FOR SPENDING SOME TIME WITH US TODAY! TELL US ABOUT YOUR LATEST CREATIVE ENDEAVOR!!
I have a single coming out October 23 called “Learn the Lie” and it’s about someone spilling their guts to you and you weren’t ready for what they had to say. It’s about someone pouring themselves out to you and it not even mattering that you are the person on the other side. I give too much of myself to people too quickly and this song is a chronicle of that story that I've managed to repeat over and over again. I’m really proud of this song.
ON A SCALE FROM ONE TO TEN... HOW DRIVEN ARE YOU?
9??? I know what I want and I am not afraid to get it anymore. But at the same time, life sometimes gets in the way. So I am prepared for that.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST EXPERIENCE IN YOUR LIFE, WHEN YOU KNEW YOU WERE DESTINED FOR THIS CAREER PATH?
As cliche as it sounds: I went to music camp when I was 15 and, for the first time, was surrounded by people who thought like me and were just exploding with creativity. And I didn’t feel so strange anymore. I felt connected to myself in a way I never had. At that point, I at least knew it was possible to keep on the path that I didn’t even know I was on.
HOW IMPORTANT IS "LUCK" IN YOUR CAREER?
I think everyone encounters luck constantly. But a readiness to take advantage of that is infrequent. I’m just trying to be prepared for whatever luck comes my way.
WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND TO BE 100% TRUE ABOUT SUCCESS?
Success is earned. No rungs on its ladder can be skipped. It is a long, arduous, hard-earned path. And it isn’t one goal either. Instead, it is a series of accomplishments.
IF YOU COULD MEET ANY SUCCESSFUL PERSON IN YOUR CAREER WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Justin Vernon. I just want him to be my teacher!
