Where are you located now and where are you originally from?

Born and bred Torontonian I have yet to venture away from this place. Love the city and everything I need is here for the time being.

Who has been your greatest influence?

My dad. He's my hero. I'm very lucky to have him as a rock through this music madness. Strictly musically speaking...Jeff Buckley, Lorde, Nirvana, Emily Haines, and Amy Winehouse. I was brought up on a pretty cool variation of music. My parents didn't want my sister and I getting stuck in cookie-cutter-pop despair...not that there's anything wrong with that music (I love it), but they (and now I) think it's important to get a taste for a bunch of other really cool things. That kind of exploration has gone far past  creative discoveries and has bled into navigating emotional and physical tendencies of mine. I’d classify my sound as more indie pop/alt pop.

What is your latest and greatest?

I'm releasing a new single on October 26th (so it may be out by the time this is up)! It's called 'Listen to the Thunder'. I hope you love it. You can find it on all streaming platforms...there's also a music video on Youtube! I wrote it back in 2017 and I've been itching to get it out since mastering the track. It makes for some pretty badass energy that I hope extends to my audience.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021?

Honestly just the fact that 2020 will have ended. It's been a tumultuous time for everyone and I think we're all ready to breathe again. I do hope that people found silver linings in this year's madness. Getting music up and running again is definitely something I'm looking forward to. Since COVID wreaked havoc earlier this year, musical endeavors just haven't been the same. Lots of music/videos/content coming in the New Year and that's been keeping me sane!

What would you say to your younger self if you could?

Don't change a thing...but also, take some time to look around every so often. As cliché as it is *gag* it's about the journey, stop rushing to the end. I'm really good at pushing to burnout and forgetting to appreciate the things I'm doing, people I'm connecting with, experiences I'm living..

On a scale from ONE to TEN, how driven are you?

10. It's a blessing and a curse. A high-functioning perfectionist many of my close people tell me. I always have about 15 different projects going on at the same time - and the results always have to meet my standards!

How much do you believe LUCK plays a role in success?

You know, I think luck comes in varying degrees. It's hard to define. And the thing that actually bothers me about luck is how people are quick to default to 'luck' as being the reason for others' successes without acknowledging the fact that an individual likely made that 'luck' for themselves. I strongly believe that you can make your own luck (baring uncontrollable circumstances like winning the lottery or being born into riches). For me, luck is opportunity that results from your hard work. Sometimes the payoff can amount to what you perceive as being nothing. But when opportunities do present themselves you can consider yourself lucky for that. Luck played into your success because you reached your desired payoff that wasn't guaranteed. Stop relying on luck to magically float your way and start putting hours in to make your own.

How can we stay up to date with you?

Social Media is NOT my forte, but I'm regularly active on Instagram. You'll get an occasional tweet and Facebook post, but instagram is the place to go! @delyngrey
