Talon David goes to the GRAMMYS plus she just wants her "music to reach those that will best hear it".

How does your music affect the world?

Hmm, well the vision behind my music is to, first, be relatable—voice things that people are feeling or wanting to feel at the moment. Secondly, I want to allow them hope, so they can more easily find joy in any circumstance. Whether it actually does these things is beyond me LOL.

Who has been your biggest cheerleader as an artist?

My family! Most parents don’t want their kids chasing performance dreams but my parents did it themselves, so there was no debate when I wanted to LOL. They have been so supportive from listening attentively to my songs to giving me honest feedback on my ideas. I have one younger sister, and I have no doubt that she will rule the world. She is also incredibly supportive.

Tell us about your latest release!

In November, I released my latest single “PB&J” because it makes me happy and I felt it necessary haha. It’s a whimsical tune about love through a nostalgic and blissfully naive lens. Plus, I produced and mixed the whole thing which was super empowering!

What have been your greatest challenges as an artist?

My greatest challenge has been dealing with unkind opinions about my music from music industry people. It’s really really difficult to hear negative comments about music you’ve worked so hard on and given so much of yourself to, especially from people who are further along in their careers. I have to decide every single time how much I’m going to let it affect me, and it hasn’t stopped me yet haha.

What have been your greatest achievements as an artist?

I mean, finally releasing music last year was a HUGE deal. It’s incredible that we can do that all ourselves now! However, my biggest achievement so far and something that keeps me inspired is my winning of the GRAMMY Foundation’s Teens Make Music Contest in 2017 which took me to the 59th GRAMMY Awards. Experiencing that night motivates me to get there again and to be held at that standard of excellence.

How do you find peace in an often chaotic world?

I make sure to have moments of stillness in my head, not hampered by any pressures or expectations. My brain tends to race and think and race itself, so clearing it is realllllly important. Taking walks through nature helps me get to this state real quick; it’s so centering. Also, reading books is a form of escapism for me. I’m reading Lord of the Rings for the first time now and I am LOVING it hahaha.

What does "making it" mean to you?

I appreciate this question so much. I have no dreams of stardom or global domination. All I desire is to live comfortably in a minimalist lifestyle and for my music to reach those that will best hear it. I want to travel and meet a lot of amazing people that love music. I would like to get my music placed in films or TV shows. But who knows what else will happen? That’s the exciting part.
