THE WAVE with LEVVI
Where are you located now and where are you originally from?
I am a big mix of ethnicities spanning all over the world. My mother is from a tiny country in Africa called Eswatini and my father is a first generation Canadian coming from German roots. I've lived all over the world as a child too mostly around south east Asia but that's a whole story on its own. As of right now I am based out of Vancouver, BC. I have been happy to call this place home for the last 5 years, I've always dreamed of giving something back to the city and that's the direction I'm trying to go right now.
Who has been your greatest influence?
I have been a fan of music for so long that it's hard for me to put my finger on just one artist. Through the years I have gone through so many different phases of music which all play a part in my own creation but there are definitely a few as of recent that I am inspired from. A few of these would be PartyNextDoor, Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, and a more lowkey one would be Eli Sostre. I make a lot of different kinds of music from the melodic "Sorry not Sorry" to the lyrical "Rushed" and harder hip hop songs like "Bad Bunny" & "The wave" so different influences shine through every time but all of them play a big role together.
What is your latest and greatest?
On October 30 I dropped a song called "The Wave". I wrote it during the beginning stages of the pandemic while I was in Kelowna with the family. We were at a cabin on the lake and everything just seemed so serene despite all the nonsense happening around us. I knew when I finished recording it that this was the song I wanted to attach myself to so I shot a video with Unmatched Media which is coming out on November 7. I am super happy and excited about the song and even more so the video, the wave really lived up to everything I imagined it to be.
What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
A lot of artists make the mistake of worrying too much about their numbers, but more than anything else I enjoy watching them grow from release to release. I am going to keep doing what I am and just enjoy the ride, I make music because I love doing it and I feel that it what's most important. I look forward to growing as an artist and as a person, 2020 has taken too much from people so I feel come 2021 everyone is going to flip the switch and be on their A-Game.
How can we stay up to date with you?
The best way to stay connected would definitely be through my social media, specifically my Instagram: @Levvi604
As I mentioned before I have a music video coming out soon and I'm going to be posting all about on that Instagram so stay tuned for the drop.
